Have you ever drunk a cup of lemon and ginger tea for a sore throat, or used a lavender eye pillow to help relax at bedtime? If so, you've already practiced home herbalism. If you want to learn more about the basics of using herbs as home remedies in a variety of common situations, this is the workshop for you. In this half day session we'll lay a foundation for the fundamentals of understanding herbal medicine, including what it is and what it isn't, identify some local seasonal medicinal herbs from both the hedgerow and the kitchen garden, and learn to make some herbal preparations that you can use over and over again to extract and preserve the magical goodness of plant medicine.

This is not clinical herbal medicine, but folk medicine as it's been utilised by people all over the world for thousands of years. Knowledge of hedgerow plants and their applications for human health that was once common is now under threat of loss. My aim in this workshop is to (re)ignite your connection to plants as allies for human health and resilience, and get you started on (or moved further along) the green path, wherever it may lead you. Plants are here for us if we only take the time to know them.

This workshop includes tea and coffee and a vegetarian lunch.
