Our mission
Traditional remedies for the modern world
Fifield Road Apothecary was established in 2018 as an artisanal soap making business underpinned by a love of botanicals and the green world.
Our story
How it started
Leslie Astor started Fifield Road Apothecary in 2018 at her dining room table, expanding on an existing practice of her personal experience making traditional, cold process soap using only plant based ingredients. Over time she added a number of other products made with the same care and chemical free approach as her soap, and the business flourished. Our current studio is based in a converted grain dryer in the Cotswolds, on our third generation family owned and operated regenerative farm (Bruern Farms). Our products and packaging have always been free of single use plastic, and we donate a portion of our monthly profits to the reforestation charity, One Tree Planted. Several of our soaps and balms are wildcrafted from healing plant ingredients either grown or foraged here on the farm.
EDUCATION & INSPIRATION
Beyond the product
Over the intervening years our workshop has evolved into a place that offers not just products you can use but experiences you can learn from. As a community herbalism hub, we offer foraging walks, home herbalism workshops and botanical soap making courses.
Our aim is to inspire people to consider the endless ways we can work with and integrate plants into our daily lives. We take a vitalist approach to plants, seeing them as living, sentient beings with whom we co-exist in an interdependent relationship, rather than mere ‘things’ or commodities for us to use.
Moving forward, we have big plans to increase our herbal offerings. Watch this space to find out how we want to grow. We hope you’ll join us on the journey.
